Enjoy the Moments

Every morning I wake up and the first thing I do is check my phone. Emails, texts, weather, social media websites, and so on.  It's a convenience we can't seem to live without and how my day starts off is pretty much my whole day. Phone always near by and it takes little to no reason for me to be back on it or the laptop.

I'm a mnom of two wonderful girls who deserve every minute of me but yet I've uttered the words "In a minute" to them so many times and that minute is never just a minute. I've had days where I'm tired and busy so it's easy to let them get on the laptop, or just about any electronic to keep them busy. My internet now feels like an addiction I can't live without. We have a need to know everything now and the joy of internet gives us that power. I know what my friends are doing, from pictures, updates of everyday life.  I know the weather outside before even walking out the door and even get to know the weather on the other side of the world. Celebrity news within minutes of it being released. We all have access to everything happening outside of our own lives and can't seem to live without it. We don't have to wait until the six o'clock news or the mornings paper. News within our own circle of life is hardly ever shared by a visit at the door or a call anymore. It's a post, text, email or even a tweet,

When I look back at my childhood I consider to be one of the lucky ones. The playgrounds were normally full, my bike hardly ever sat in the garage. We passed notes and would spend hours hanging out and pretty much doing nothing but having fun.  My time was spent with people near me. Living life together in one form or another. Hardly ever uttering the words "in a minute" because my life only existed within my little circle of life. Things happened outside of that circle and I'd eventually find out or not but I loved it that way.  My moments in life were spent with friends, family or even alone. Now my moments are spent finding out about everyone else's moments.

It's incredible how much internet has taken up our lives.  Just spend one week or even just a day and take notice. Why not even go as far as keeping track of how many minutes we now share with it. Even at social gatherings we can't help but check our phones for one reason or another. Internet is fabulous for so many reasons too but I've finally learned to set my limits.

I've learn no email, text or post is more important then the person I am with at that moment. I do keep my phone near me especially since I have kids but other then what I consider an important text or call my phone won't take me away from my moment. I even started with no internet the last Sunday of each month.  Just before bed on Saturday I turn everything off.  Yes the phones still have service but only a phone call might be answered on it. I thought unplugging the internet would be the hardest thing to do but it wasn't at all. Of course my kids were totally against the idea of no internet for a day but in the end our day felt fuller.  We did so much more together and even had more fun.  What I thought would be hard is now something we look forward to.  We went old school and love it.  The bikes are used more and we even write notes on a regular basis.  Instead of everything being a text it's now notes too which was something fun that came out of all this.

So take notice!  Notice how something that brought us convenience has become sort of an addiction.  Once you notice you'll see how easy it is to cut down.  How easy it is to set a day with no internet like I do the last Sunday of each month.  I challenge everyone to just unplug the last Sunday of each month. One day out of the month where your life is spent in your moment.

Rich Pins For Pinterest

Rich Pins show metadata right on the Pin itself, giving Pinners a richer experience and increasing engagement. Information in a Rich Pin is independent of the Pin description, ensuring that important information is always tied to the Pin. There are 6 types of Rich Pins: app, article, movie, place, product and recipe Pins.

In other words people can Pin the picture on your website or they can Pin the details about your picture too.  Adding little tags to your data makes all the difference in search engines. Your website has everything but without helping out a search engine most of it can get lost.  This works for Pinterest too.

If you've completed the steps to on Twitter Cards That Work For Bloggers then you're only one or two lines away of code from getting Pinterest set up.

If you've verified your website already with Pinterest your only one line of code away from getting this done. If you haven't verified your website you'll have to do that first via your profile on Pinterest.

Go to your Pinterest and on the right hand side you'll see Edit Profile.
Window Pops Up and at the bottom you have an option to enter your website.  Once done you'll get a code that looks something like this.

<meta content='395e8062748c595216c500d8cc7c33a3' name='p:domain_verify'/> which you will need to also enter over </head>    (make note that the code given might only have this > at the end. It will need />)  Please don't directly use this code. Your own website will have it's own unique id number.  I'm just using mine as an example which are the numbers in BOLD.

So back to HTML. As always I suggest you backup. It only takes a few seconds.

Template = Edit HTML

Once in HTML you'll have to search for </head>
Click inside the HTML window and

PC
Hold down ctrl, select F

Mac
Hold down command, select F

Just above </head>  enter

<meta content='article' property='og:type'/>

You'll have to include your verification code you got from Pinterest in the same area too. Now save!

Once saved you'll have to Validate your Rich Pins For Pinterest at  Validator Pinterest
If everything went well you should be done.  This is for the Article Pins.  I've yet to play around with the other options but when I do I will update it in this post.

I'm always here to help so if you need it I'm just one message away.

Bloggers Wanted

Looking For Bloggers to join together.  We all struggle on our own to be noticed and think how much easier it would be if we joined forces and helped one another. Wouldn't it be great to know that when you post something new that someone will read it and share it too?

Am doing a post about my favorite Bloggers with description and link. Will have a link to this post on my home page and am looking for other Bloggers who would like to do the same.  I am looking for no more then 19 other Bloggers.  No linking farms or anything like that. Just the people who live behind their computer and who love to post and would especially loved to be noticed.

Who ever joins agrees to visit all other 19 websites on a regular basis.  If someone posts something new you agree to like it and share it.  Remember the same will be done for you. So that will be 19 visits and shares for you too.  Would be a great group to do guest posts too.

So how much stronger would we be if there were 20 of us?

To Apply You Must Agree To This

Have a favorites page with links to everyone in the group

Promise to visit everyone's website on a daily basis (ok I know daily can be impossible some days but willing to do the best you can)

Agree to like and share posts from people in the group on a regular basis. You are not required to like more then one a day.

Tag the people in your group when posting.  Please do not abuse and exceed more then one tagging a day.  Doesn't mean people in the group won't still share other posts but remember if everyone shares one a day that's already 19 other posts to share a day.

Everyone has lives outside of their Blogs but hope everyone will make an effort to try and help one another. If you vanish for over a month with no warning and no one is able to reach you then we will have to look for someone new. If anything happens just message. Hopefully we'll be a group that wants to help one another.

If you like we can make a small group via a social network to keep in touch. That can be decided after.

Looking forward to making new friends.  If interested please contact me.
